mary anne & travis

Another wedding, this time at an old Lunenburg farmhouse with the most happily-situated verandah I've ever seen in my life. Fields of hay sweeping down to the ocean, grazing llamas and alpacas, salt-weathered boat sheds, and piles of kayaks. I want to go back here someday, and not to work but to drink tea, read books, and fall asleep at two in the afternoon.

Every wedding has its highlights. First the plaid tie and the wrist-blossom; this time, it was bright red shoes, a fascinator, a lodge full of Newfoundlanders, and a meadow tea party for the bride and groom's little girls. French pastries, imaginary poured chocolate, and tied satin that kept slipping off tiny shoulders. Don't fix it, I'd whisper from behind the lens. It's perfect, just like that.

I know, I know. I've had, more or less, the same blog layout since 2004. Back then, my camera was a 1982 Pentax K-1000. Sharing client photos has been a kick in the ass to do a proper redesign, and find the happy medium between big, juicy photographs and easy-to-read copy.

I have no idea how to overcome seven years of content designed for a 498-pixel-wide main column. Nevertheless, it's time to do it......

An update: I'm experimenting. In addition to wider columns, sweet|salty's main page and photoblog feeds will now be merged. This may result in 'new' posts showing up in your reader, as photoblog posts are moved over. Carry on.

Beautiful shots, Kate!

Have I ever shared this link with you?

I always enjoy poking around Hilary's site. I think she does a great job of balancing copy with "big, juicy photographs."

Doesn't anyone get married in dull locations where you live? Like in a drab catering hall? Or Elks Club? I bet you can make that look good too.

I doubt I'll ever stop reading your blog. The content and visuals are always a gift. Thank you.
