the truest blue

A robin's nest. Poor thing has planted her family right outside the cabin, which is very close to the house. I tucked my lens inside the cedar to capture this with some hesitation -- if you disturb a nest at all, mama bird may abandon it. All is well, though. Today she's been all tucked in, as seen from the cabin window. Though I can't promise her a restful future, with two preschoolers and a wooden screen door.

We startle her a lot.

We had a nest last spring within 6 inches of the handle of our front door, on the top of the porch rail, where we had a bird's-eye (*grin*) view of the entire proceedings that even the 7yo would see. It was astonishing and fabulous. Don't worry about disturbing her - you won't, unless you physically MOVE the nest even an inch, in which case she will not recognize it as hers. I dunno why - look it up, though. It's true!
