in the cabin

What a day. There's a crisp breeze rustling the trees, and the sun's beaming. Justin finished the demolition on our fireplace insert to prepare for a new little woodstove in the living room (so that we don't freeze and starve during multi-day January power outages, as per usual) so there's soot in the air, a hole in the roof, and a chimney on the grass.

He's gone to pick up the new rig and I seized the chance to answer the questions submitted for the launch Q&A (there's a delay on the event video, hence the audio). Go here to my other blog for thoughts on writing, the book, and blogging. And death. And expensive jeans. You know. As per usual.

We are going to be bidding on a log cabin soon with a woodstove. I look foward to having that lovely little item. And I'm trying to figure out how to work in a stone pizza/bread oven into the place as well.

Good luck on the demolition!

Word on the street (you know, when street=inbox) is that my copy of the book is making its way down to Texas tomorrow. Can't wait!

When I was little, my Aunt and Uncle had a mountain home in Montana. During the summer, when it was the dog days, and hot and stifling in Texas, we would head up to Montana to spend several weeks hanging out in the middle of nowhere. I'll never forget how huge those logs were in those cabins-- the logs laughed at the wimpy Texas wannabe log cabins.

Woodstoves are the BOMB....I have no idea what we would do without ours.

Perfect for drying out little one's boots and warming hands after bringing in a barrow of logs.

PS. I am all nestled in to listen to your Q&A.

Can't wait.

If I ever owned a cabin, it would HAVE to be in Nova Scotia. I don't understand the desire to own a cabin in BC.

Nova Scotia IS summer cabins, either smelling of sand by a calm brown lake with a warf to jump off of, or near the sound of the Atlantic.

Can't wait to toast my feeties by your new wood stove. When the power goes out, I'll turn up on your doorstep.

Ugh. I love it. Thanks for answering my questions, too :)

Loved your Q&A and this sweet peek into your cabin. Also, I actually replayed your Q&A on LOUD while I went about the house just to pretend like you were here, chatting away with me.
